Parkway Construction Update

Construction in Process!

Construction of Twin Rocks' new Parkway is complete! And work on the Greenway is well underway. Below are photos of construction in process. If you're able to make a pledge to ensure full implementation of the Greenway & Parkway Campaign, please visit our Donate page.

CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE. Construction of the Parkway perimeter road was completed nearly on schedule, just beating the winter rains. We are slated to complete most of the Greenway portions of the project during 2011. These include adding sidewalks, grassy lawns, shrubs, trees, and a new Welcome Center (housing guest services offices and Undertow Espresso coffee shop). Please note that asphalting of the perimeter road is being delayed to permit full funding, likely until 2014.

• BILL HOWARD and his excellent team at EARTHWORKS EXCAVATION. Time and again, Bill and his crew found ways to work with excellence while simultaneously keeping the Parkway project under budget.
• TWIN ROCKS MAINTENANCE TEAM of Richard Chesebro, Jeff Sargent, and Joel Thomas. These three worked countless hours to keep the camp maintained while also tackling huge portions of the Parkway & Greenway project. Coming alongside them were part-time workers Micah Chesebro and Nathan McDaniels, as well as Summer Staff and dozens of volunteers.

No longer do campers on foot share the road with cars. Roads are now exclusively for use by cars, with wide sidewalks and grassy lawns for campers! There are just two places in all of camp where campers cross the camp's roadway, and they are clearly marked with friendly "camper crossing" signs.
