Twin Rocks Friends Camp & Conference Center Meetinghouse
|
|
The Meetinghouse is Twin Rocks Friends Camp's largest meeting room, with seating for up to 350 people (larger groups utilize the Shelter gymnasium as an auditorium). Originally constructed in 1928, the Meetinghouse has been recently remodeled, and is carpeted, has padded, stackable chairs, and is equipped with a podium, baby grand piano, electronic keyboard, sound system (with 16 inputs), overhead projector, two 8 ft. projection screens, CD player, DVD, VCR and two video projectors permanently installed in place. The Meetinghouse can be configured in a wide variety of ways. Large groups use the Meetinghouse as their primary meeting room or chapel. Smaller groups utilize the center of the room for auditorium-style seating, and place round tables to the sides for break-out discussions. Many youth groups choose to remove the chairs entirely, enabling campers to sit informally on the carpeted floor. NOTE: The term "Meetinghouse" is a term used widely by Friends (Quakers), of which Twin Rocks Friends Camp is a part. Historically, Quakers have often utilized the word "church" to designate the people gathered for worship of Jesus Christ, and the word "meetinghouse" to designate the building in which the "church" gathered. |
