Twin Rocks Main Camp Facilities

Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center is located on the beautiful Oregon coast, just a block from the beach. The camp is situated on 120 wooded acres, with mountain trails, a lakefront, and modern accommodations for more than 300 persons. Each year more than 13,000 individuals utilize Twin Rocks Friends Camp for such purposes as youth retreats, summer camps, outdoor schools, Elderhostels, men’s / women’s church retreats and family camps. The camp enjoys an extremely loyal clientele, with guest groups returning year after year to enjoy retreats at Twin Rocks.

Overnight Accommodations

Sleeping accommodations are available in 20 separate cabins, one large dormitory, and a motel-style lodge. All of these facilities are fully winterized and carpeted, and all but two are equipped with restrooms. Most of the units have been strategically designed for multiple use — meeting the unique needs of both youth, families, and adults.

Pacific Woods Lodge

Sleeps: 25-60

Nestled in the forest among tall spruce and hemlock trees, Pacific Woods Lodge is a favorite for couples retreats, men’s and women’s retreats, and other adult conferences. Pacific Woods Lodge is Twin Rocks’ most deluxe facility. The Lodge’s 16 private rooms are each equipped with a queen-sized bed with a cozy duvet and a full bath. Fourteen of the rooms also have twin-sized bunks. Bed linens and bath towels are provided.

One of the most striking features of the Pacific Woods Lodge is its meeting room. The 36 foot vaulted ceiling with cathedral windows and the large stone fireplace create an inviting setting. Meeting amenities include a TV/VCR, compact disc player, group address system, electronic keyboard, flip charts/easel, and a video projection system. Complimentary coffee and tea service are conveniently provided.

Hadley Hall

Historic Hadley Hall, built in 1935, is named for Chester Hadley, whose inspiration led to the founding of Twin Rocks Friends Camp in 1918. Today, Hadley Hall remains the camp’s largest building, and serves as an ideal location for women’s retreats, family conferences, and youth camps.

This dormitory-style building has seven restrooms. Hadley Hall has 107 beds (and 133 bed spaces when two are placed in each double bed). Rooms on the facility’s first floor are handicapped-accessible.

Shorebird Cabins

At the eastern edge of the meadow are six cottages known collectively as the Shorebird Cabins, totaling 88 beds (105 bed spaces if two are placed in each double bed) in 17 rooms. At the north end is Twin Rocks’ newest and most deluxe cabin, known as Osprey. In the center are Heron, Pelican, and Sandpiper. To the south sit the more rustic (no bath inside) Kilchis and Quechua.

Cabins of the Trees

The Cabins of the Trees are among Twin Rocks Friends Camp’s most popular. They are carpeted, comfortable, and versatile. Each cabin is equipped with two full restrooms.

Meeting Spaces

Twin Rocks has a number of carpeted meeting rooms of various sizes: the Meetinghouse has padded chairs and seating for 350 and the Shelter (our gymnasium) seats 600. Two other rooms accommodate up to 100, and several more seat around 50. The camp’s largest meeting rooms are equipped with public address systems, video projection, and pianos.

    Welcome Center & Undertow Espresso

The Welcome Center is the first place that a guest director should come check in to the guest services front office. With good coffee, our gift shop, and a good place to sit and read or chat, Undertow Espresso serves as a social hub of camp. It is a great place for small meetings like any coffee shop, it’s also a place where prayer happens quite a bit for those that prefer a good coffee with their prayer.

    Pacific Woods Lodge

A grand fireplace, high vaulted ceilings, and magnificent picture windows make the 60-seat meeting room in Pacific Woods Lodge a relaxing space with great natural ambiance. Coffee/tea self-service, small kitchen, couches, piano keyboard, PA system, and available video projection add appreciated amenities to this room.

    Meetinghouse

The Meetinghouse serves as Twin Rocks Friends Camp’s largest traditional meeting room, with space for up to 350 people, Originally constructed in 1928, the Meetinghouse retains natural wood and a camp-like charm while being fully outfitted with video projection and quality sound system. Upon request, chairs can be removed from the central seating area to allow campers to sit informally on the carpeted floor.

This multi-functional facility works well for groups large and small, and for a wide variety of activities – from skits to concerts, from chapel services to table games.

    Friendship Center

Upper Friendship Center. With seating for over 100 people, a large propane fireplace, and great location (adjacent to the camp Dining Center), the 2,000 square foot upper Friendship Center meeting room is a Twin Rocks favorite.

Lower Friendship. Normally, the lower portion of Friendship Center is set up as a lounge space. Its comfortable log furniture and propane fireplace make it an ideal location for small group gatherings. A computer station and password-protected wi-fi access make it a popular place for individuals to check email during adult conferences. If requested, lower Friendship Center may be converted to a meeting space for groups of up to 50 people.

Front Office. Also in lower Friendship Center are the camp’s guest services staff, available to assist with any camper needs.

    Hadley Hall Meeting Space

Tillamook Bay Room. With seating for up to 100, the Tillamook Bay Room is the largest in historic Hadley Hall. The room enjoys large picture windows with views across the meadow. A piano, PA system, and coffee self-service are frequently-utilized amenities.

Memorial Lounge. This intimate lounge with fireplace and sofas is a favorite among adults. It can be used as a quiet meeting room for up to 45 people.

Netarts Bay Room. Netarts Bay Room in the lower level of Hadley Hall seats up to 60 people and comes equipped with a residential-style kitchen for snack preparation. The room may be sub-divided in two with an accordion-style divider. When sub-divided, the south half of Netarts Bay Room can be used as an overflow sleeping area (5 sets of bunk beds line the south wall).

    Macy Chapel

Nestled in the woods, Macy Chapel offers a meeting space for up to 50 people. In addition, it provides a terrific place for individual times of solitude, prayer and reflection.

    The Shelter & Central Restrooms

The large A-Frame gymnasium known as The Shelter provides an excellent area to play basketball and volleyball. In addition, it houses numerous other activities, including ping pong, air hockey, foosball and billiards. The Shelter is regularly used year-round for small and large group activities and is especially appreciated during inclement weather. Lounge chairs and small group gatherings add to its function as a main hub of activity for the camp. Upon request, the Shelter can be set up with chairs to accommodate large groups of up to 600 persons.

A Kiddie Korral play structure on the west side of the Shelter provides outdoor fun for children, and a Shelter Patio (complete with patio furniture, small amphitheater and fire pit ) merges with a grassy greenway on the east side of the building.

Central restrooms are attached to the shelter and are a great place to wash up from the beach, lakeshore or a particularly messy recreation activity so you don’t drag all the sand and mess into your cabin. There are public restrooms throughout camp, but these are the only non sleeping area restrooms with showers, one of them has a bath, and many of them are designed specifically for handicap accessibility.

    Arts and Crafts

With its hardwood floors, natural wood walls and windows overlooking a meadow, the Arts & Crafts Building serves as an ideal locale for crafts projects, or as a meeting room for up to 30 people.

    Nature Center

    Victory Circle

    Amphitheatre

    Sabbath by the Sea

For people desiring a personal retreat under the tutelage of a spiritual director or guide, and in the community of others.

Dining at Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center!

    Twin Rocks Food Service

Dining is the social heart of camp for many guests. Relationships are built around the shared experience of good food and conversation at the table. Campers rave about the food at Twin Rocks, especially the homemade baked goods. Meals are generally served buffet style, but family style (food delivered to tables) may be an option depending on staffing and the time of year.

Enjoy a cup of complimentary hot coffee or tea in our Dining Center throughout your group’s stay. We also provide locally roasted gourmet coffee in our coffeeshop The Undertow. The Undertow, located in the Welcome Center, is available periodically through your group’s stay upon request. While you are waiting for your coffee order, peruse the camp’s store where you can find our latest Twin Rocks apparel, books and mercantile.

    Dining Center

Our main dining hall is one of the first buildings built on camp. It has been expanded and remodeled through the years to grow with the camp, enabling more and better service of our guests.

The Dining Center seats up to 300 persons. Especially on weekends, your group may be dining with two or three other groups in the Dining Center, each group’s tables clustered within a designated area of the Dining Center. Pacific Woods Lodge guests may have a more private dining experience in the “Annex,” a portion of the Dining Center that can be made separate with a portable, soundproof wall.

There is a podium and sound system in the Dining Center for making announcements during meals.

Coffee & Tea: Complimentary hot coffee or tea is available 24 hours in the Dining Center throughout your group’s stay. Locally roasted gourmet coffee is available in the camp’s Undertow Espresso and Camp Store, located in the Welcome Center. Undertow times need to be pre-arranged with the Guest Services Director.

    Kitchen

Our kitchen and kitchen staff can serve over a thousand meals in a day We put significant effort into giving you the best dining experience possible while balancing the desire not to charge you an arm and a leg for this service.

In order to keep you safe. We keep a clean and organized kitchen. We cook and serve food properly. This is something that our food service director is passionate about. Keeping a clean and organized kitchen that stores food properly and cooks it to the right temperature is critical to making sure your food is safe.

We also put significant effort into creating a menu that your group as a whole will enjoy. Our food service director has more decades of experience that he would like to claim in creating a menu that your group can enjoy. If your group has been here before expect to see some of your favorite meals returned and a few new items as well.

Unfortunately due to the scale of preparing food for hundreds of people to be served all at once we are not set up for personalized customization. If you have a specific need please let us our Guest Services Director know.

    Special Diets

We strive to ensure that as many people as possible can attend a camp, conference or retreat at Twin Rocks. Offering special diet meals free of additional cost is one of the ways we strive to do this.

Special Diets: The food service staff at Twin Rocks Friends Camp strives to create healthy and appealing menus that the majority of your group will enjoy. Dietary substitutions and accommodations are made free of charge for the following special diets*:

We serve the following special diets*:
    Wheat Free (non-celiac)
    Dairy Free
    Diabetic
    Vegetarian
    Vegan

Additionally during the summer our food service is entirely nut free.

Guests with additional special diet needs are welcome to bring some or all of their own food. There is a small refrigerator in the Dining Center for guest food storage as well as a large walk in refrigerator in the camp kitchen available during working hours. Please coordinate with us if you will need storage space in the walk in refrigerator.

Ahead of their stay, guests are welcome to request a copy of the menu to aid in their planning or to contact the Food Service Director with any questions or concerns.

    * One significant limiting factor in providing special diets is that we have only one kitchen. We bake with wheat flour and cannot ensure that some airborne flour doesn’t land on the meal of someone that requested a wheat free diet. If your dietary restriction is life threatening, we cannot ensure that level of food control while we are serving hundreds of other people. So please contact us about what we can do to help make sure you can safely join us.

    Banquets

Several groups enjoy a special banquet during their stay. Our cooks and bakers also enjoy the opportunity to show off their skills with a special meal now and then.

Twin Rocks food service staff enjoys creating a banquet or special meal for guests upon request. If interested, please discuss this with our Guest Services Director for availability and additional pricing.

Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center is loaded with activities available to enhance your stay. Please take a minute to read through the non exhaustive lists below.

    Expand the Fun!

Signature Recreation Options at Main Camp

Our recreation options are often a highlight of a camper’s week. These activities provide a challenging and fun way to build physical skills like balance, coordination, and strength, while also fostering important mental attributes like confidence, trust in others, and problem-solving abilities, all within a supportive outdoor environment that can enhance a camper’s overall experience and sense of accomplishment. Due to the staffing required to safely run these activities, we do need to schedule them well before you arrive at camp. These facilitated recreation options are generally available from April to September. If you are visiting outside those times, don’t worry as there are many year-round activities available, highlighted as Free Time options below.

    Spring Lake Lakefront

Along the northern edge of Twin Rocks Friends Camp sits Spring Lake, where campers enjoy many hours of swimming and boating activities.

    Zip Line

Our 700 ft dual zip line is an exciting trip over Cammack Field. It came into operation in 2019 and has been the highlight of camp for many guests since then. It is ADA accessible and fun for almost all ages.

    Rock Wall

Built into the back of the lower zipline tower is is our two lane rock wall. Can you reach the top?

    Extreme Swing

The Extreme Swing is one of Twin Rocks’ favorite camp activities. Use of the Extreme Swing is available seasonally, with advanced reservations required. An hourly fee applies to pay for supervisory staff.

    Archery

Our archery range is a great place to have a nice friendly competition with friends, or a relaxing target practice, or just the opportunity to get outside and try something fun that most people don’t get to do everyday.

    Expand the Fun!

Free Time Options at Twin Rocks Main Camp

We hope you’ll enjoy our extensive year-round recreation options, which include Horseshoes, Disc Golf, Hiking Trails, Mini-golf, our Gymnasium and much more… Our year-round free time options do not require Twin Rocks trained staff to ensure safe operation and are available to our guests at any time their schedule allows, but may need to be scheduled for exclusive use. We do ask that you use common sense and follow a few simple rules required for safe operation. The local beach has no lifeguards with very dangerous undertows, riptides, and sneaker waves, which cause several deaths every year, so guests must stay out of the ocean. There are, however, a couple of rivers on the beach that are safe for play and wading.

    The Beach

Twin Rocks Friends Camp is located one block from a magnificent, 7-mile Pacific Ocean coastline. This beach is publicly-owned (as are all ocean beaches in Oregon), and the Camp makes frequent use of it for a wide array of activities. Just offshore stand two large rock formations from which the Camp derives its “Twin Rocks” name.

    Cammack Field

Twin Rocks Friends Camp’s athletic field (known as Cammack Field) provides a wonderful grassy space for outdoor camp activities. It is about the size of a softball field (it even comes with a backstop) or soccer field, and is frequently utilized for all-camp recreational events. From giant games of ultimate frisbee to water fights involving hundreds of people and everything in between this field has some stories to tell. Play an old classic or use your imagination and create your own stories.

    The Shelter Gym

The large A-Frame gymnasium known as The Shelter provides an excellent area to play basketball and volleyball. In addition, it houses numerous other activities, including ping pong, air hockey, foosball and billiards. The Shelter is regularly used year-round for small and large group activities and is especially appreciated during inclement weather. Lounge chairs and small group gatherings add to its function as a main hub of activity for the camp. Upon request, the Shelter can be set up with chairs to accommodate large groups of up to 600 persons.

    Sand Volleyball

We have a two court sand volleyball pit that is a great place to play some volleyball, or treat it as a sand pit for littles to bury their legs in.

    Gaga Ball

This simple game has kept large groups of kids and adults active and engaged round after round. Gaga Ball is a free for all contained dodge ball-ish game with full instructions posted right by “The Pit”. If you’re looking for a quick way to be active with 3-20 people for 5 minutes or much longer this is a great place to head.

    Mini Golf

It’s miniature golf. You know it. You love it. We hope you’ll take time to enjoy it.

    Table Games

Table games have long been a big part of Twin Rocks Friends Camp. Foosball, carpet ball, table tennis, pool and more. These are located in or near the shelter. Please enjoy.

    Human Foosball

If you’ve ever wondered what soccer would look like if you strapped everyone to a bar and made them play like foosball players now you have your chance to experience just that. This is a great game for cabin vs cabin, family vs family, kids vs adults, random group of people vs other random group of people challenges.

    Fort Twin Rocks

Fort Rocks was constructed in 2019 to replace our old Kiddie Corral. It’s a play fort. Kids have fun and use their imagination. The first level has a ramp to it, not fully ADA compliant, but with a little help we hope everyone that wants to can join in the fun.

    Courtyards & Fire Pits

We have made sure that there are many places around camp to gather for songs and smores around a campfire, or coffee and a talk with a new or old friend. We strive to make places to have meaningful moments for group sizes 1-400 and hope you’ll take the time to reflect and grow.

    General Information

Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center is built for you!

We strive to make sure that Twin Rocks is a place where everyone is able to come, learn, grow, build memories and strengthen relationships. We hope that Twin Rocks is the change you need from your everyday life. If you need peace we have set up peaceful places. If you need to get into nature we have forests, meadows, lake, creek, and beach. If you need relationship we have set up spaces for meetings big and small.  We hope that you and your family, church, school, friends, mission, support group, and/or hobby group find the space to get what your spirit needs here on our grounds.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR STAY

Most of our sleeping accommodations (Pacific Woods lodge is the exception) come with a mattress and fitted sheet by default so we expect our guests to bring their own pillow and sleeping bag as desired.

The beach is beautiful and wonderful and we hope you enjoy it, but we simply can’t overstate how dangerous it is. Our beach has terrible undertows, riptides, sneaker waves and no lifeguards. It is rare that a year goes by without at least one death on the Twin Rocks beach.
