What types of work might I do?
Summer staff team members can expect to have worked in a number of roles by the summer's end. Team members spend much of their time in one "main" work assignment such as lifeguarding, kitchen, grounds/landscaping, and housekeeping. Summer staff also share regular dishwashing and camp cleaning responsibilities, and spend up to four weeks as camp counselors.

How many weeks might I counsel?
Most staff counsel three or four weeks of the summer at Day Camp (first through sixth grade), Boys or Girls Camps (fourth to sixth grade), Tween Camp (junior high), or Surfside (high school). Girls, Boys and Tween Camp counselors must be at least eighteen years of age. Surfside counselors must be at least twenty years of age and two years out of high school.

How many hours of free time and work time can I expect each week?
During non-counseling weeks team members can expect to work several ten-to-eleven hour days, with an hour-and-a-half afternoon break, and short breaks for devotions and meals. Team members are also given Sunday mornings off for church attendance and most Thursdays off as full “days of rest.” Other non-work summer staff activities (such as worship, accountability groups, and just-for-fun get-togethers) will monopolize much “free” time the remainder of each week. During counseling weeks staff members sacrifice much of their personal free time for the opportunity to love campers and impact them for Christ. Team members look forward to relaxing on three-day summer staff girls and guys retreats at the end of these rewarding weeks!

What activities does your camp/location offer?
Twin Rocks staff members can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including sand volleyball, boating, canoeing, swimming, hiking, fishing, miniature golf, and Frisbee golf. Indoors, staff often play basketball, foosball, shuffleboard, pool, or ping pong in the camp's newly renovated "Shelter" gymnasium, or just hang out together in the spacious Lodge Meeting Room. Twin Rock's location, just one block from the beach, also offers staff the benefits of beach bonfires, ocean sunsets and exploring miles of pristine beach.

How many people apply and what are my chances of being asked to be on staff?

We expect to receive around fifty applications each year and have just sixteen positions available. Much time is spent in prayer and discernment in regards to hiring decisions. We strongly suggest that all applicants have a good "back up plan."

What type of accommodations do summer staff live in?
Twin Rocks was enabled through a generous estate gift to construct Pacific Woods Lodge, a beautiful motel-style facility used as summer staff housing during summer months. Two-to-three summer staff team members share each bedroom and private attached bath. Staff laundry room and living areas are located just down the hall. This is truly a "must see to believe" summer staff housing facility!
