A Speed Bump in Our Summer Camp Plans…
(5/15/2020 Update Regarding the Coronavirus Crisis)
Twin Rocks’ summer camp plans slowed today when we learned that at this time, Governor Brown’s summer camp guidelines do not permit overnight camps. This news came as somewhat of a surprise, as the final draft of the guidelines issued last week indicated that both day camps and overnight camps would immediately be cleared to operate (with safety restrictions). We are eager for overnight camps to reopen, but only when experts and authorities deem it safe, and we are sympathetic with those tasked with making these difficult decisions.
Instead, at this point, Twin Rocks can operate Day Camps, and we’ve scheduled two great Day Camps in late June.
The summertime status of overnight camps is uncertain, though we remain hopeful that restrictions will be eased prior to July 1’s start to our traditional slate of overnight camps. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
In the meantime, please register for camp! For registration and details about Day Camp, Boys Camp, Girls Camp, Tween Camp, and Surfside Camp, please click here. Safety guidelines will likely cap these camps at 100 campers each, so early registrations are encouraged. Refunds will be made in full if camp is cancelled.
Please be in prayer for our summer and our campers. Thanks!
Good News for Summer Camps!
(5/11/2020 Update Regarding the Coronavirus Crisis)
It is time to sign up for summer camp at Twin Rocks! We are cautiously rejoicing, as last week Oregon Governor Brown gave priority to summer camps in her Coronavirus re-opening guidelines. It appears that kids/youth camps can largely proceed according to plan, and on their originally scheduled dates.
Please register soon, as each camp will likely cap at 100 campers* in order to meet anticipated physical distancing requirements. Summer camp in 2020 will look somewhat different from prior summers, as dozens of new safety procedures will be in place to fully comply with State restrictions.
Like always, fun, adventure, worship, and a great dose of God’s beautiful creation await you this summer! For registration and details about Day Camp, Boys Camp, Girls Camp, Tween Camp, and Surfside Camp, please click here. (While we are optimistic, we remain aware that circumstances may still dictate that we cancel camps, or travel restrictions could potentially preclude children from some geographic regions from journeying to Twin Rocks. If so, registration fees will be refunded in full.)
* Governor Brown’s camp guidelines do not permit large group gatherings. As such, all camp activities will take place in groups of 10. For the entire week of camp, each group of 10 campers will operate independently and remain at a safe distance from every other group of 10. At Twin Rocks, we see this as a very different – but workable – means of enjoying camp.
GUEST GROUP RENTALS. The summertime status of guest rental groups will vary group by group, as Twin Rocks seeks to safely and fully comply with restrictions set forth by the State of Oregon. (April 2020) Announcement Regarding the Ongoing Coronavirus Crisis
To support the worldwide effort to reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus, in adherence to Oregon Governor Kate Brown’s executive order, and in light of President Trump’s guidelines to limit social gatherings of ten or more people and non-essential travel, Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center is closed until further notice.
During this closure, Twin Rocks is working diligently behind the scenes to be fully prepared for the day we are safely able to reopen. We look forward to engaging face-to-face again with our guest groups and summer campers, offering exceptional, life-changing camp experiences.
What does this mean for rental guest groups?
All guest groups are cancelled through mid-May. It is our desire to open for business as soon as it is truly safe to do. We are evaluating the situation past mid-May and will make further decisions as more information becomes available. For questions about events beyond mid-May, contact us as 503-355-2284 or email email@example.com.
What does this mean for Summer Camps?
We are continuing to plan, staff, and accept registrations for all of our Summer Camps. We have a great summer planned, and remain hopeful that we will be able to safely share the beauty of nature, the unique adventure of camp, and the gospel of Christ to a great group of summer campers. Of course, Twin Rocks will gladly offer full refunds to pre-paid campers if camp sessions cancel. For registration questions, contact us at 503-355-2284 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We invite you to join us in prayer for the health of our world. God willing, we will see you for your event this Spring or at camp this Summer.
