Purpose for the Position

Twin Rocks Friends Camp & Conference Center engages with hundreds of donors, volunteers, and friends of the camp every year. The Development Director ensures the success of these relationships by coordinating overall development work and cultivating donor relations. This position also supports the promotion and communications efforts of the ministry through public relations and written communications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Donor engagement through networking, communication, and personal visits.
  • Work with the Executive Director on strategic major donor relationships.
  • Assist in designing the annual development plan.
  • Carry out the annual development plan in coordination with the Development Team.
  • Support volunteer recruitment.
  • Facilitate Development Team meetings.
  • Facilitate fundraising events in cooperation with others on the event team.
  • Facilitate Communications and Public Relations.
  • Represent the Ministry in the community through civic and non-profit events.
  • Write stories for print publication, blog, etc. that capture the heart of the ministry.
  • Work with marketing coordinator to facilitate the donor communications plan.
  • Coordinate with IT and administration in database management, receipting, reporting, gift recording, and compliance.
  • Work with the Executive Director on major gift planning, advisory, processing, and recording.
  • Develop and manage the annual development budget.
  • Attend Board meetings and present Development Reports as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Attitude of service and a commitment to Twin Rocks Friends Camp and its ministry.
  • Possess an evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the organization’s goals, including a signed agreement with Twin Rocks statement of faith and lifestyle expectations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and over the phone.
  • Previous administrative experience and training.
  • Bachelor’s degree or considerable experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity and involvement with evangelical Friends Church and/or Twin Rocks Friends Camp strongly preferred.
  • Ability to undertake “essential responsibilities” above in a timely, friendly, respectful, detail-oriented manner.
  • Maintain a viable, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and exemplify that relationship in daily life.
  • Ability to work with other staff in planning logistics and other decision-making.
  • Self-motivated person who can anticipate the needs of others.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and issues at the same time and yet maintain a positive attitude.

Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands

This position involves travel and requires driving oneself regularly to Portland and/or the Oregon Coast. Working remotely is acceptable if the employee resides within a 2-hour drive of the Oregon Coast and of Portland.

Language Development

Able to communicate clearly – verbally and in writing – in English with staff, guests, vendors, and volunteers. Proficiency in other languages helpful.

Specific Vocational Preparation

  • Administration, office skills, computer, and other management preparations are necessary.
  • Previous development (donor relations) experience helpful, but not required, as significant training will be provided.
  • Bachelor’s degree or considerable experience strongly preferred.


This is a full-time, year-round management position, eligible for the management-level benefit package as outlined in Twin Rocks’ Employee Handbook.  Among other things, this includes salary, 401(k) retirement fund, and paid vacation/holiday/sick time. On average, the person in this position works 48 hours/week.

Probationary Period

Positions at Twin Rocks Friends Camp are subject to a six-month probationary period.
