Purpose for the Position

This position provides Twin Rocks Friends Camp with a skilled maintenance employee. The Twin Rocks Facilities Department strives to create physical spaces that allow people the freedom to meet with Christ and build community with others. An ideal candidate will have a passion for helping to create an environment that reduces distractions and puts guests at ease so they may more easily engage in spiritual and community-building activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring the effective functioning of the camp’s facilities, providing the camp with buildings and grounds that are attractive, functional, and safe for staff and campers of all ages.
  • Assist in ensuring that the camp’s facilities are compliant with American Camp Association and OSHA requirements.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • An attitude of service and a commitment to Twin Rocks Friends Camp and its ministry.
  • Possess an evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the organizational goals, including a signed agreement with Twin Rocks’ statement of faith and lifestyle commitment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to undertake job duties and responsibilities in a timely, friendly, respectful, and detail-oriented manner.
  • General knowledge of most aspects of building construction/maintenance and grounds upkeep.
  • Ability to assist in several maintenance areas: routine repairs, preventative maintenance, general construction, equipment maintenance, building remodeling, automotive repair, audio-visual technology, etc.

  • Maintain a viable, growing relationship with Christ and exemplify that relationship in daily life.
  • Ability to work with other staff in planning logistics and other decision-making.
  • Self motivated person who can anticipate the needs of our staff and guests.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude with staff and guests.
  • Ability to oversee individuals and small groups in successfully performing various maintenance and housekeeping tasks and doing so with confidence, knowledge, and respect.

Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands

  • It is important to be in good physical condition and be able to lift up to 75 pounds. This job will include work on ladders and roofs, in crawl spaces above and below buildings, reaching, crawling, lifting, sweeping, etc.
  • The position involves working both outside and inside, sometimes in inclement weather.

Language Development

The employee should be able to communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) in English with staff, contractors, guests, and volunteers. Proficiency in Spanish is desired.

Associated Duties

This person will periodically work in other departments and needs to be open to other duties as assigned. In keeping with the multi-faceted nature of a Christian camp, the person in this position will typically average one day a week, undertaking behind-the-scenes duties such as housekeeping.

Compensation

This job is a full-time, year-round, paid position. On average, the person in this position will work 35-40 hours per week. It comes with benefits provided at the Coordinator level of Twin Rocks’ structure.

  • 120 hours per year of Vacation, gradually moving to 160 hours over time

Probationary Period
