Program Description

Do you desire a deeper understanding of full-time Christian ministry? Are you interested in learning more about year-round camping ministry? Do you want to grow in your leadership abilities and gain professional experiences? If so, the Internship at Twin Rocks Friends Camp may be just right for you!

The Internship Program at Twin Rocks Friends Camp is designed to equip young adults with a deeper understanding of Christ-centered leadership through the development of professional skills, ministry preparedness, and through relevant, formational curriculum within a Christian camp environment. This occurs through behind-the-scenes work, up-front leadership opportunities, interactions with campers and guests, mentoring relationships, and working alongside an intentional community of Twin Rocks staff with a shared purpose and vision.

The Internship Experience

Twin Rocks offers a year-long Internship program that provides a flexible experience blending your interests and needs with those of Twin Rocks Friends Camp. The Internship is structured in such a way that recent college graduates spend twelve months (September – September) learning about full-time Christian ministry by working and serving in a Christian camp setting. Interns spend approximately 20 hours a week serving behind-the-scenes in camp operations (housekeeping, kitchen, etc…) and about 25-30 hours per week working alongside key full-time staff in the areas of programming, guest services, and executive leadership. Please note that we often hire interns outside of our preferred September to September timeline. If you are interested in being an intern, but can’t make the full year work feel free to apply anyway.

Purpose for the Position

Twin Rocks offers an eleven-month Internship Program that provides a flexible experience blending opportunities for leadership and professional development with the needs of day to day camp operations. Interns participate as operations staff for approximately 20 hours a week, and then spend another 25-30 hours volunteering in the department of your choice specializing in an area of concentration that enables an intern to focus on one or more areas of interest. These areas may include:

  • Youth Programming
  • Recreation and Outdoor Ministries
  • Executive Leadership and Administration
  • Guest Services and Registration
  • Marketing, Development, and Communications
  • Food Service
  • Operational and Facilities management
  • Adult and Family Programming

Internship Core Experiences

Core Experiences are designed to challenge you spiritually, vocationally, and personally while gaining practical work and ministry experiences. Core Experiences are for every intern regardless of their area of interest and include:

  • Weekly Intern Meetings
  • Mentoring Opportunities
  • Book Studies
  • Camp Tours
  • Attendance at CCCA and ACA events
  • Staff Retreats
  • Other leadership development and spiritual formation components as assigned

In addition to the Core Experiences, Interns will serve alongside year-around staff in the planning, budgeting, staffing, management, and guest service aspects of their areas of interest. These may include planning and facilitating an after-school program for local children, leadership training for high school youth, and coordination of various summer programs. Interns gain hands-on-training and experience while actively involved in the ministries of Twin Rocks Friends Camp.

Interns at Twin Rocks receive a $1,300 per month stipend plus housing and utilities (power, water, garbage, internet) in a house shared with other same sex interns. Food is provided when guests are being served.
