Volunteers have always been at the heart of Twin Rocks Friends Camp. Since its inception in 1918, the camp has received hundreds of thousands of volunteer labor hours. Each year, Twin Rocks’ success is contingent upon the generosity of dozens of volunteers in numerous key roles: Cabin counselors, kitchen staff, board members, maintenance workers, building contractors, office staff, and others. There are several ways to volunteer at Twin Rocks Friends Camp. Find the way that best fits your schedule and interests!

Extended Stay Volunteers

Maintenance Workers: Twin Rocks Friends Camp suffers from too few maintenance workers. Oftentimes, preventative maintenance and routine projects go undone due to a lack of mechanics, craftspersons, and handymen. And generous volunteers have been turned away from Twin Rocks due to a lack of accommodations in which to house them. To remedy this problem, Twin Rocks recently purchased two new “Park Model” single-wide modular homes, which are available exclusively for use by long-term volunteers.

Twin Rocks is looking for individuals or couples who would be willing to move to Twin Rocks and live in these Park Model homes. In exchange for volunteering 20-25 hours/person each week in maintenance, laundry, and/or office duties (depending upon your skills and interests), Twin Rocks will provide housing accommodations, utilities, and many meals. Ideally, Twin Rocks will secure volunteers able to commit 1-2 years living and volunteering at the camp, but will entertain the possibility of shorter stays.

If you are interested in investigating either of these Extended Stay possibilities, please email Volunteer Coordinator LeAnn Beebe to request an application and job description.

Volunteer C.A.M.P. Team

Have you always wanted to give back to Twin Rocks but never quite knew how to make it all work? The Volunteer C.A.M.P. Team (Clean, Assist, Minister, Pray) is a group of individuals who share a love for Twin Rocks and a heart for service at the camp.

Weekend Training. The Volunteer C.A.M.P. Team begins with a weekend of training. Members gather once a year in the spring for a retreat that includes fellowship and fun along with on-the-job work training in the areas of dishroom and housekeeping. Families of volunteers are invited to the training weekend.

2017 Camp Team Weekend Training: March 31st-April 2nd

Weekend(s) of Service. C.A.M.P. Team members then sign up to serve 1-2 weekends per year in dishroom and housekeeping duties. Each weekend entails 12 hours of volunteer labor (typically 6-8 hours on Saturday and 4-6 hours on Sunday). C.A.M.P. Team members work alongside Twin Rocks staff, providing a space for guests and campers to make the most of their time at Twin Rocks. Of course, Twin Rocks provides complimentary lodging and meals for its C.A.M.P. Team members.

The C.A.M.P. Team provides volunteers with weekends-with-a-purpose, helping behind the scenes to make Twin Rocks successful. It’s a LOT of hard work, but we think you’ll also find it very rewarding. You’ll be a huge blessing to the Twin Rocks staff.

Work Teams

Larger groups (such as youth groups, men’s, women’s, etc.) are invited to help out with landscaping, painting, small construction projects, clearing trails, yard work, wood splitting, beach cleanup, etc. We are often able to provide food and housing at no charge to volunteer groups who would like to come either on weekends or midweek. Our goal is to provide time for retreating as well as time for volunteer service.

Other Information

It’s important to us that you have a good volunteer experience, so we need to discuss your schedule, meals, housing, tasks, etc., prior to your arrival. Please consider what “gift of time” you can give to Twin Rocks.

Housing:
Volunteers are housed in their own recreational vehicles (RVs), in Volunteer Apartments, or in camper housing. Twin Rocks has several full RV hookups, and two Volunteer Apartments. Short-term volunteers often stay in camp cabins or in the motel-style Pacific Woods Lodge.

Food:
Delicious meals are available to volunteers when the kitchen is preparing meals for groups at the main camp. This is a highlight for our volunteers, where all of our staff (full- and part-time) have opportunity for daily fellowship in the staff dining room.

Please give us a call to talk about your availability, and please fill out our Twin Rocks Volunteer Application.

We look forward to ministering with you at Twin Rocks Friends Camp.
